AMD has just recently submitted a trademark request for a AMD Infinity Cache. While we don’t know for certain that this will be about of the Big Navi. The name does refer to the AMD Zen technology call Infinity Fabric. Giving us the impression that this cache will be used to interconnect the CPU and GPU cores. Infinity Cache will be a new tech coming to AMD Radeon graphics cards. We will have to wait and see if it will be applied to the upcoming release of the Big Navi.
What we do know so far is that the new Big navi has a small memory bus of 256-bit. With no information on how the cache currently works leaves us room to suspect that the infinity cache will be apart of it. AMD has also mentioned that they want to reduce latencies between the CPU, GPU cores. These are all going to be included as a part of there Infinity Fabric for Zen-based CPUs.
Thanks to @momomo_us for finding the trademark application. The trademark is issued by justia trademarks. Some more food for thought. AMD has also delayed the GPU for 20 days this could be because of the Trademark or a supply issue. As of right now it is too early to tell but once we have more information on the infinity cache we will make sure to post that information.
